I had spent the year before this workshop reading all about the International House Of Reiki, looking at their website, using their meditations and being inspired by their blogs. It felt like something magical and yet unbelievable that I would be going to the Cotswolds to meet Frans Stiene in the October of this year. The wonderful Kathleen and Leah of the Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA) had booked my place with Frans the year before.
All instruction is but a finger pointing to the moon; and those whose gaze is fixed upon the pointer will never see beyond. Even let him catch sight of the moon, and still he cannot see its beauty. Buddha
This famous saying about the finger pointing to the moon is highly relevant to the system of Reiki. The finger within the system of Reiki represents the five elements: symbols/mantras, hands on healing, meditations, attunements/reiju and the precepts.
In last week’s blog we began an in-depth look at the precept; show compassion to yourself and others. Today we want to have a look at yet another layer of this precept which is often not discussed in Reiki classes.

Julie and I went to a rescue shelter for horses to do some animal reiki yesterday. Julie is passionate about horses, and regularly volunteers there. I wanted to learn more about animal reiki, so I went along with her. We picked the best day to go out!! Rain + wind.
