Within the system of Reiki we have primary practices and secondary practices. It is important to know what these practices are as this will help us to get a clearer understanding of what we are practicing and how to progress.
“The real secret of the system of Reiki is not the attunement or the symbols and mantras but your personal practice of the 5 elements of the system. These 5 elements are meditating on the precepts, meditating on the symbols/mantras, practicing the meditation techniques like hatsurei ho, performing the attunement and hands-on healing on yourself in a state of meditation.” Read more Reiki Quotes by Frans Stiene…
Lately, there has been some discussion in the Reiki community questioning whether the founder of the system, Mikao Usui, actually taught the DKM mantra/symbol in the system of Reiki. DKM is encountered in the system’s final teachings of Shinpiden Reiki Level III. Most Reiki practitioners know of DKM through the teachings of Mrs Takata who, in the late 1930s, brought the system from Japan to the West. Mrs Takata taught the DKM mantra/symbol as the last of the system’s four mantras and symbols. Those questioning the DKM’s origins stem from the lineage of Mrs Yamaguchi.
All instruction is but a finger pointing to the moon; and those whose gaze is fixed upon the pointer will never see beyond. Even let him catch sight of the moon, and still he cannot see its beauty. Buddha
This famous saying about the finger pointing to the moon is highly relevant to the system of Reiki. The finger within the system of Reiki represents the five elements: symbols/mantras, hands on healing, meditations, attunements/reiju and the precepts.
Great to see all your different ideas and comments on our last blog, A question for you about Reiki Treatments, where we posted a question about two different types of hands-on healing sessions. Some thought it too brain numbing, others too easy, and for some - just plain too different from what they’d been taught as Reiki practitioners. Why would we ask this question?
Well, there was a second, unwritten, question in this blog…
Understanding Reiki Meditations Teleclass
There are many ways that meditation is utilized within the system of Reiki.
Maybe you haven’t fully explored this area of your Reiki practice?
Come and join Frans Stiene for 4 weeks of intense meditation, the Reiki way.
The precepts are the most fundamental teachings within the system of Reiki and are often widely misunderstood or misinterpreted.
During this Teleclass we will delve deep into the relationship between the precepts and the meditations, hands on healing, symbols and mantras and the attunement/reiju.
The three Ps within the system of Reiki are Practise, Patience and Perseverance. All of these are important when practicing the system of Reiki. They should not be seen as separate entities. There is a reliant interconnectedness between them. Successful practise without patience and perseverance is not possible, and neither is perseverance without patience and the practise itself. To get the most profound experiences from your Reiki practise you will need to utilise all three Ps.
