Nietwaar?
Today is a good day to re-read some chapters of Frans Stiene’s The Inner Heart of Reiki: Rediscovering Your True Self. Today is also the perfect day to practice one of the meditations I have learned from Frans, called Joshin Kokyu Ho. Today is a good day to strengthen my center, to nourish the hara, with a breathing meditation that revitalizes in a natural, easy way. As Frans teaches it, this meditation is one of the foundational practices of the system of Reiki upon which we harmonize our Mind, Body and Energy. Frans lives this Reiki practice as only a true master can; and is sharing from his own direct experience the mysteries of Mikao Usui’s teachings, walking an esoteric Japanese path that Usui walked, as it were. And—he is taking us along with him with practices that have become accessible to us on account of this dedication.
Let’s see if we can get a clearer picture of the difference between the precepts and hands-on/off healing.
Imagine; what if everybody in the world would practice the precepts and take them to heart and no one did hands-on/off healing?
This coming May I will be going on a journey to Japan to walk into the footsteps of Mikao Usui, and will become a lay Shugendo monk at a prestigious Shugendo temple. During this three week training I will meet with two of my Shugendo teachers. With one of them I will go for two weeks deep into the Japanese mountains to delve into our own True Self.
Many practitioners and teachers believe that the blessings Mikao Usui is talking about within this statement refer to the reiju/attunement/initiation. But this is not the case. If we look deeply into the whole statement, we do not come across the concept of reiju/attunement/initiation at all; rather, we come across a specific state of mind. A state of mind of no anger, no worry, of being grateful, of being true to our way and our true self, and of being compassionate to ourselves and others.
“Be in the now.” “Be in the present moment.” These are phrases we hear more and more in the current mindfulness movement. But the more I look for the now and the present moment, the more I realize that they can not be found! Each time I try to grasp them, they slip through my fingers as if trying to grasp air.
