There are many practices within the system of Reiki, but Mikao Usui pointed out again and again that the essential focus is rediscovering our original nature. This is because it is only through this rediscovery that we can help others heal with compassion and wisdom.
As spiritual practitioners, we are all on this journey to be free, to recognize our true nature which is the fountain of peace, love, wellness, abundance and more. For me, very often, the journey seems long, arduous, full of hurdles, but also providing release, glimpses of freedom etc. Far too often it feels like that which I’m seeking - that liberation, that awakening, that freedom - is too far from grasp. That it may take lifetimes to accomplish!
How does one embody the light of wisdom?
According to Usui, daily cultivation of the heart/mind with ideal mental trainings allows one to develop wisdom, let go of stress (anger, worry, etc.), develop a clear and sharp mind, and invite “many blessings” (the power of the universe), of which is also the spiritual medicine of many illnesses.
Rather than grasping, channeling, or otherwise manipulating energy, Reiki is a method that allows us to invite (招) happiness/ good fortune / many blessings (福). This happiness, these many blessings are also the medicine for many illnesses. Worded another way, inviting this peace of mind is a method (Ryoho 療法) of dealing with many stresses and overall dis-ease.
Many practitioners or teachers will say that the tools within the system of Reiki are sacred and cannot be shared openly. Some might even say that the teachings are sacred and cannot be shared unless you have paid a certain fee to attend a course. Some teachers even have their students sign a form not to disclose anything.
One of the most cherished aspects of our lives are our memories. Whether they are “pleasant memories” of great events like marriage or childbirth or birthdays, or “unpleasant memories” of traumatic events like death or parting or abuse, we hold dearly to these memories. To some extent, our memories define who we are now and what we do in this moment.
