We are thrilled to announce that Frans Stiene, senior teacher at the International House of Reiki, has won the Reader’s Choice Favourite Reiki Teacher of the Year 2013. Thank you to those who nominated him - it was a lovely surprise. And thank you to everyone who voted for him. Frans dedicates his life to being the best Reiki practitioner and teacher he can be, so this is a great pleasure for him to receive.
The students came into the program as spiritual aspirants, each of them following some manner of practice to start with. The students have been having life changing experiences through the course of this program. And I am not saying that to hype anything. Here is a sample of what the students have been sharing with me and each other, about their experiences.
Surrendering ourselves to spiritual energy (Reiki) is not that easy as we are so programmed by our upbringings or, as is often in the system of Reiki, by our teacher/s. When we surrender we move in an organic way - no dogmatic steps, movements or hand positions - but completely free.
After the first session, it seems like there was a lot of buzz amongst the students about the class, and the sense that something exciting was afoot with this exclusive group of students. The word got out in their circles. And I got a request through Jeff to consider accepting another student. After I got the response to the questionnaire from this new student, I accepted him. I set up a makeup session for getting him caught up. And it seems like he was deeply impacted by it, and went out to spread the word, and literally the next day I had two of his friends wanting to join the journey. I got their responses to the questionnaire, and found them both to be wonderful additions. I set up a 2nd make up session and got them caught up.
When considering “receiving” within the system of Reiki there are specific initiations, the Japanese term for these are Reiju, which literally translates as spiritual blessing. The initiations are often also called attunements, however the word attunement only came to be used after Mrs Takata, (who brought the system of Reiki to the West) passed away - she herself called them initiations. And then we have hands on healing on ourselves and others.
I offered Jeff the opportunity to learn the system of Reiki over a full year with me!
I called this program “Support your spiritual journey with Reiki”. This wasn’t an effort on my part to create a new brand of teaching Reiki, but just some words using which I could communicate to Jeff what I could offer to him on his journey. We would meet every other week in person, for about 2 hours, as I would incrementally guide him through the practice of the system of Reiki, giving the time, the attention, the guidance, the answers and more to his personal questions.I
Whenever we practice meditation, hands on healing, or perform a reiju/spiritual blessing, we are dancing with the universe. To be able to dance with the universe, however, we need to be able to dance freely. To dance freely with our body, mind, and energy we need to be free of attachments (fear, worry, anger). Attachments are like ropes constraining us from dancing.
I’ve been contemplating the Year of the Dragon opening and ending ceremonies held by Frans Stiene of the International House of Reiki. I’ve needed a bit of time to fully imbibe the richness of both. I thought I’d share some of that richness (quite frankly, the riches are still revealing themselves to me daily).
